Mission Statement
"With God's help and love, we serve children and families."
Keeping Kids Safe
Michigan children ages 11 to 18 often arrive at Eagle Village feeling frightened, lost and confused. Many of their physical and emotional needs have not been met throughout their young lives. They may have recently experienced a situation that removed them from their home residence or put them in the court system to determine their next step and living arrangement. In many cases the children that become residents, have received abuse at the hands of the adults they trust the most.
Eagle Village immediately provides children with safe haven and a sense of security and boundaries upon their arrival, their first stop to a new beginning. There is a full evaluation of a child's circumstances, disposition and personal challenges. The next step is to establish a treatment plan for the resident including their family whenever possible. Our group home settings are situated on 681 beautiful acres of the Eagle Village Campus establishing the course for healing and growth. A priority in treatment at Eagle Village is to focus on healing the whole family. If it is not possible then assistance is provided to find a safe and secure "forever family" through the Eagle Village Adoption and Foster Care programs.
Consistency, healthy boundaries and respect are the guiding principles that offer children a sense of safety that may have been missing in their life. Once a resident feels that they are safe they are better able to begin to work toward personal goals that will lead them to a brighter future.
Developing Healthy Relationships
At Eagle Village a goal of treatment is to heal the family. A resident's long term success dramatically improves when the importance and value of Family Counseling and healing is understood by the caring individuals involved with the child.
In our society today family is considered those individuals that love and care about each other and often reside together even just part of the time. Families of residents are often faced with generations of obstacles and challenges that affect their interpersonal relationships. Family couseling provides a stepping stone for growth, healing and healthier relationships inside and outside of the family unit. Education and healing is a priority as residents work toward developing healthier relationships and acceptable personal boundaries that will serve them for a lifetime.
Building Character & Leadership Skills
As residents become familiar with their surroundings at Eagle Village they have many opportunities and a team of caring staff members working with them to heal the deep wounds that may be present.
Individuals have a responsibility to work with counselors to determine the ramifications of their circumstances and develop a plan for healing and prospering.
Specialized programs that encourage personal growth and success to Eagle Village residents within their core treatment plans include:
- Ashmun School a unique partnership between Eagle Village and the Mecosta/Osceola Intermediate School District.
- Experiential Learning is used at Eagle Village and is a treatment model that is practiced across the country. It encourages victims to "step outside" of their comfort zone and learn to trust in themselves and others. Experiential Learning is provided through outdoor activities on the campus of Eagle Village. The experiential process provides a key component to treatment plans set forth in Residential Care and Family Counseling. Experiential Learning has a proven track record of accelerated progress for residents by the nature of the activities. Activities that are core components of Experiential Learning include excercise, team building and personal growth activities. This gives residents an opportunity to build strong character. The component of safety and ability level is clearly established as residents learn to trust themselves and others through Experiential Learning. Individual and sometimes hidden character and leadership skills develop through the process of measured success.
- LightHouse Chapel is an option for all residents.
- Michigan Works! West Central Eagle Village is a unique program that provides youth services for the West Michigan area. They assist people ages 16 - 21.
Eagle Village sustains an 80% success rate in treatment programs, measured one year after a resident has returned to a home environment. This is a testimony to the effective intervention that Eagle Village provides to children in crisis.

Eagle Village Leadership
Second chances. Changed lives. That's what Eagle Village offers - open doors of opportunity for children and families. It started in 1968 with eight boys referred by the courts to Eagle Village, and today we have a 681-acre facility and serve thousands of children annually. Through programs and counseling, we help those who are abused, we find good homes for those that are victims of neglect, and we teach those that are in trouble with the law to lead productive, upstanding lives.
